Cincinnati web research/SEO and consulting firm Intralink recently ran tests to assess performance of several search engines including Google, Yahoo!, MSN.com, and Ask.com. The report was compiled by doing hundreds of searches on a wide range of terms, considering factors like relevancy, freshness of content, failure rate and search performance.
Surprisingly, the study found that the MSN returned consistently better results than some of the newer search engines, with Google a close second.
Intralink plans to regularly update their search relevance report every three months.
